BYD Exceeds 130k Deliveries in Thailand: Chinese Automakers Shift from Product Export to Ecosystem Export

Just like TSMC setting up shop in Arizona back then, which symbolized not just capacity landing but the complete migration of the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, BYD's Thailand factory hitting its second anniversary of operation with cumulative deliveries breaking 130,000 units looks, in my eyes, like another structural inflection point—Chinese new energy vehicle expansion overseas has moved from the trade-oriented phase of "selling cars" to the ecosystem-oriented phase of "building factories + building chains + building standards."

Just as TSMC setting up factories in Arizona symbolized not just capacity landing but a complete migration of the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, BYD's Thailand factory hitting its second anniversary with cumulative deliveries exceeding 130,000 units represents, in my view, another structural inflection point—Chinese NEV exports have moved from the trade-oriented phase of "selling cars" to the ecosystem-oriented phase of "building factories + building chains + building standards."

Short-term Delivery Growth: Market Positioning Behind 130k Units

Looking at industry cycles, Thailand is Southeast Asia's largest auto producer with ~2 million annual output, but NEV penetration was only…

Regarding the 40% market share figure, I checked the original report from the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI). Their stats cover 2024 NEV registrations but don't distinguish between BEVs and PHEVs. Do BYD's DM-i models count as NEVs in Thailand? This definition issue needs confirmation. Also, does the 40% localization rate include battery packs? If it's just simple assembly, then the ecosystem export claim still raises questions.

The data on delivery volume and localization rate feels like the load balancing status of parallel computing nodes in a bioinformatics pipeline. A 50% capacity utilization means there's still room for expansion, equivalent to reserving distributed computing resources.
