800V Architecture Goes Mainstream as Leapmotor B01/B10 Break the Barrier

If you compare the electrification race in the auto industry to a marathon, then the 800V high-voltage platform is that sudden "boost strip"—runners who hit it can instantly pull half a body length ahead. For the past two years, this boost strip was exclusive to models priced over 300k RMB, like the Porsche Taycan, XPeng G9, and Zeekr 001. But now, Leapmotor has dragged this threshold down to a range accessible to ordinary families with the B01 and B10.

A 69.7kWh battery pack with 800V architecture claims 670km under CLTC, which works out to less than 10.5 kWh per 100km. Has this data been back-tested? In real-world conditions, I'm afraid you'd have to knock off 20%.

If the electrification race in the auto industry is like a marathon, then the 800V high-voltage platform is that sudden "acceleration strip"—runners who get on it can instantly pull half a body length ahead. Over the past two years, this acceleration strip belonged only to models priced above 300k RMB, such as the Porsche Taycan, Xpeng G9, and Zeekr 001. But now, Leapmotor has dragged this threshold down to a range accessible to ordinary families with the B01 and B10.

On July 13, Leapmotor released more specs for the B01 and B10: full-domain 800V architecture, 3C fast charging, 69.7kWh battery pack, C…

The claim that 3C fast charging hits peak power on a 250kW pile is a bit idealized; the actual charging curve and battery thermal management are what really matter. If costs are squeezed too low, the redundancy design of the thermal management system will likely be cut back, raising questions about long-term reliability.

This guest is interesting, breaking down Leapmotor's strategy quite thoroughly. However, I want to ask: With 800V pushed down to the 150k RMB segment, will there be compromises in battery and motor lifespan, given the cost pressure is so intense? Do you know if Leapmotor has any special designs in BMS or thermal management?
