Jensen Huang Compares AI to a Vacuum Cleaner: The Analogy Is Both Right and Wrong

Jensen Huang said AI is just a tool like a vacuum cleaner—don't treat it like a person. Coming from a guy who sells GPUs, that's a bit ironic—after all, the chips he sells are literally the racetrack for AI to run on. But as an indie developer who works with AI tools every day, I have to say: this analogy holds up in business terms, but it's wrong technically.

Jensen Huang said AI and vacuum cleaners are both tools, don't treat them as humans. Hearing this from someone who sells GPUs is somewhat ironic—after all, the chips he sells are the track AI runs on. But as an indie developer who deals with AI tools daily, I have to say: this metaphor is correct at the business level, but wrong at the technical level.

In the short term, AI is indeed a tool. Just as vacuum cleaners replaced brooms, LLMs replaced search engines and customer service templates. I've integrated several AI interfaces into my own SaaS product, and user feedback is direct: as long as it gets the job done, nobody cares if it has consciousness. Comp...

As a middle school teacher, I'm actually using this metaphor to teach students. When they do AI projects, they find that tuning models is like using a vacuum cleaner, but they get confused when the model starts adjusting parameters on its own. This case is great for discussing the boundary between tools and intelligence.
