Last week, while on a business trip in Shenzhen, I grabbed coffee with a friend who works in cross-border supply chains. He pulled out his phone, opened a translation app, and spoke into it alternately addressing me and a Japanese client next to us, with lines of Chinese, English, and Japanese scrolling across the screen. Watching him switch between three devices and lean in to read the text off the screens, I couldn't help but think: If there were a pair of glasses that could free up his hands and let him understand what people are saying in real-time, would he buy them?
