AI Firefighting Services: Selling Expertise or Audit Trails?

Just saw a post about AI handling incidents. The core message is stinging: if AI increasingly takes over simple faults, engineers will encounter fewer daily events, and technical muscle memory will atrophy. Systems look more stable, but teams become more unfamiliar with them. This is the same issue I raised before when CI green lights became the new bottleneck: automation speeds up execution but separates human judgment.

These days I'm trying out code audit Agents and just started with CI. The feeling is direct. Generation and repair speeds are indeed fast, but the trust layer before merging is more critical. If an incident is auto-closed by AI without replayable disposal logs, records attributing causes to model calls, context, and change scope, customers will just think they got lucky today, not forming stable payment habits. Especially in hard tech and infrastructure, ops leads fear most that no one can explain the chain of responsibility after an outage.

So my judgment is that the true high technical barrier in this track lies in turning firefighting processes into auditable, replayable, and priceable ledgers. Many companies can sell licenses, but only those that enable customers to clarify responsibilities in retrospectives and turn improvements into procurement reasons have exit potential.

The AI's black-box UI is so ugly I can't stand looking at it. Auditing is all guesswork, no different from staring at an overnight latte.

Agreed. After using Agents for a month, I realized clients won't dare buy without replayable audit logs. The technical moat isn't about how strong the model is, but whether you can turn the black box into a transparent ledger.
