Used WorkBuddy's industry expert feature as a duty assistant; finally stopped staying up late fixing schedules

Saw the news that WorkBuddy launched industry experts, claiming 12 major industries and over 140 vertical roles that can load professional knowledge bases to handle complex tasks. My first reaction was: here we go again, AI is stacking titles on itself. Our department doesn't even have a proper scheduling system; 14 nurses have relied on a single Excel sheet for three years. Giving me 140 'experts' is useless if you can't first sort out my night shifts for next month.

Defining your own rules and feeding them in... sounds great, but I wonder if it can handle non-standard situations like sudden shift changes or temporary swaps? Previous scheduling tools I used would crash whenever these happened.

Wait, is this "industry expert" you're talking about essentially just a prompt scaffolding? The complexity in hospital scheduling lies in those unspoken rules—holiday compensatory leave, senior nurses not getting night shifts, who can't be paired together, etc. Can it really remember all of that? 😂
