Sent thousands of resumes, but AI ignored them all

Over the past four years, Erin Kistler sent out thousands of resumes to companies like PayPal, Microsoft, and Netflix, only to hear nothing back. It wasn't because she lacked qualifications; her resume was filtered out by an AI before it ever reached HR. What frustrated her more than the rejection itself was that no one could tell her why she was rejected.

This case is actually quite common in engineering fields; BIM model drawings also need audit trails. Hiring decisions without a traceable chain of responsibility mean no one can shoulder the blame if disputes arise—that's far more critical than model accuracy.

Disagree, you shouldn't blame AI entirely for this. I've been using AI to tailor my resume keywords based on job descriptions (JDs), and my response rate has actually returned to normal. If thousands of resumes get no reply, it's likely due to mass applying without proper matching, not because AI refuses to explain itself. Screening is essentially scoring and ranking; if companies don't provide feedback, that's a product design issue, not an excuse to blame the AI black box.
