Friends doing SEO have been complaining to me a lot lately: traditional ranking tools are still usable, but when it comes to AI search, we're basically flying blind. ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini all say different things; they might cite you for the same question today but not tomorrow. If you want to know whether you're actually being mentioned, you can only ask manually, and even then, you can't remember everything after asking.

Captchas are definitely an issue. I tried integrating third-party solving services with Playwright, but costs went up again. If you're only tracking a few core issues, API solutions are actually less hassle. They're expensive but provide stable data; data gaps affect judgment more than money does.

The barrier to entry for this solution isn't high, but maintenance costs are easily overlooked. Anti-scraping mechanism upgrades are the norm, especially for platforms like ChatGPT; IP rotation and login management will eventually need to be solved. From a brand communication perspective, it's better to clarify tracking goals first, such as using API fallbacks for core industry questions to avoid data gaps affecting judgment.

Hold on, you're using Playwright to scrape ChatGPT... Isn't their anti-scraping pretty strict now? I bet you'd have to log in again every time you switch IPs. Isn't that annoying for daily runs?

Wait, aren't you afraid of anti-scraping measures when using Playwright to scrape ChatGPT? Last time I asked too many questions manually, and it threw up CAPTCHAs... How long can your setup last?
