The MG 07 reminds me of an old production line saying: pretty blueprints don't count, uniform weld points do
Building cars is a bit like writing songs; you can borrow melodies, but whether they move people depends on if the details have their own backbone. When the MG 07 design dropped, the comments were all saying it looks like a Taycan, especially those headlights. Last week while watching stamping parts on the production line, I was thinking: a designer needs just one night to draw a Porsche-like curve, but getting that same arc pressed consistently ten thousand times on mass-produced steel sheets is a whole different story. This 'borrowing from classics' strategy isn't new in domestic cars, but what really decides success or failure isn't how similar it looks, but whether the production line can make that similarity stable.
