Just saw that article by Huawei's Peng Lei discussing the design of the Luxeed S9, mentioning that the new car retains three physical button operation zones. Honestly, I'm pretty surprised.

For this path's latency, physical buttons are definitely orders of magnitude faster than touchscreens. Touchscreens have to wait for touch sampling, interrupt handling, and UI rendering. Under sweaty hands or sunlight interference, the timing just goes haywire.
