WorkBuddy errors out when renaming workspace—counterintuitive logic?

I've been using WorkBuddy for two days now, and most features work pretty smoothly. But yesterday I hit something that made me feel like this software's path indexing logic is a bit counterintuitive.

The root cause of this issue is that path indexing uses raw string paths as anchors instead of UUIDs or inodes. Renaming a folder requires fixing the database, which is clearly lazy design. Have you tried pinning your workspace directory with symbolic links?

Lol, I've seen this hardcoded path issue tons of times. GigaDevice had a similar incident before—changing a directory name caused everything to crash, and we had to manually fix the database... Just ridiculous.
