According to IT Home, the European Commission announced on July 31 that transparency-related provisions of the EU's Artificial Intelligence Act will officially come into effect starting August 2. Specifically, certain AI systems must clearly inform users that 'you are interacting with an AI', and these systems need to provide clear labels and explanations. This legislation took over three years to go from its proposal in 2021 to partial enforcement in 2024. The fines aren't light either—violating companies can be fined up to 7% of their global annual revenue or €35 million (whichever is higher).
