Amazon and Walmart's AI can spot fake 'Made in USA' claims but won't expose them—that's real business logic
I noticed an interesting detail: This research comes from a think tank led by the former FTC Chair, and Lina Khan was known for her tough stance on antitrust during her tenure. After leaving office, she's been cracking down on Amazon and Walmart regarding counterfeit goods, which itself carries a certain political signal. But setting aside the stance, looking purely at the business strategy level, this phenomenon cleanly reveals a core contradiction in the platform economy—technical capability does not equal willingness to execute.
