Google Translate Widget: Startup Signals Behind a 'Pseudo-Demand'
Last weekend, a friend asked me to help look over a project proposal. He was scratching his head at a German email on his phone screen, saying he’d already opened Google Translate but had to keep switching back and forth to copy-paste every time. "It’s so stupid," he said. I casually dragged an Android widget called "Live Translate" from my desktop to his notification bar and told him to try it out. He exclaimed, "This thing actually does real-time floating translation?" I just smiled and didn’t tell him the feature is still in beta—it doesn’t even qualify as a stable version yet.
