XPeng Humanoid Robot Pilot Production: From Hype to Manufacturing, What Process Hurdles Remain?

Last week a friend came back from a business trip in Guangzhou and showed me some photos: the pilot production line at XPeng's Guangzhou factory. A few people in anti-static suits were gathered around a robot torso, with dense racks of test equipment nearby. He said that line was a temporary retrofit; the fixtures and tooling were all labeled "experimental phase." But the moment the line started up, the whine of the robot joint motors and the meshing sounds of the reducers were still different from traditional industrial robot lines—quieter, and more fragmented.
