Steering-wheel-less robotaxi in Austin sparks trust crisis in interaction design
If you compare a car to a digital product, then the steering wheel and pedals are its "exit button" and "physical confirmation key." As someone who works with design systems every day, I deeply understand that any product removing the exit button requires users to pay a huge psychological cost to build trust. Tesla's Cybercab, this future symbol rated "failing" by capital markets, is essentially a UI/UX experiment forcing users into fully autonomous mode—it leaves no entry point for manual intervention.
