Lack of Robotic 'Self-Awareness' is the Gap Between Demo and Reality
I noticed an interesting detail: almost every robot demo showcases astonishing dexterity—grasping, balancing, and obstacle avoidance flow seamlessly. But once they enter real-world scenarios, they seem to have their souls sucked out, moving sluggishly, clumsily, or even crashing on the spot. This isn't due to insufficient computing power or models being too small, but rather a critical bottleneck ignored by the mainstream VLA (Vision-Language-Action) paradigm—proprioception.
