Alibaba Cloud's AI Agent Instances: Pragmatic Step or Consumerist Trap?
Last week, a friend who's an indie developer complained to me that he wanted to deploy a private knowledge assistant based on a large model to help organize his code documentation and project notes. He did the math: a lightweight cloud server costs tens of yuan per month, plus token fees for calling the LLM API, bringing the monthly cost to at least two or three hundred yuan. On top of that, he had to configure the environment himself, manage API keys, and handle rate limiting and concurrency. After struggling with it for a few days, he gave up. This scenario probably represents the real struggles of many individual developers and small teams—the barrier to entry for AI Agents isn't just technical; it's also about cost and management complexity.
