48-Hour Hackathon at AI Factory: The Technical Bill from Jensen Huang's Tokyo Trip

When we talk about national-level AI factories, what exactly are we talking about? Is it a compute mine built with tens of thousands of H100s, or a forced marriage between Japanese craftsmanship and NVIDIA's CUDA ecosystem? When Jensen Huang handed over red bean cakes at an izakaya in Kanda, Tokyo, I didn't see a corporate PR stunt. I saw a veteran hacker from the 50+ hackathon scene evaluating the feasibility of a massive demo.

When we talk about national-level AI factories, what exactly are we talking about? Is it a compute farm built with tens of thousands of H100s, or a forced marriage between Japanese craftsmanship and the Nvidia CUDA ecosystem? The moment Jensen Huang handed over red bean cakes at a Kanda izakaya in Tokyo, what I saw wasn't corporate PR showmanship, but a 50+ year-old hackathon veteran assessing the feasibility of a giant demo.

The biggest problem with this turnkey solution is ecosystem lock-in. Japanese enterprises enjoy running demos with CUDA, but once scaled up, Nvidia's pricing power becomes completely monopolized—valuation logic looks at long-term O&M costs, not whether it runs through in 48 hours.

No matter how sweet the red bean cake is, it doesn't solve real problems: What's the user scenario? Japanese companies can run demos quickly using existing APIs, but can they control costs during mass production? Turnkey solutions feel great short-term, but who pays the long-term maintenance bills?
