Tencent Agent Bypasses Anti-Scraping to Grab Amap Data
KEY FACTS
- Since late September, Tencent has dispatched an Agent to scrape Amap navigation data in order to evaluate third-party model capabilities.
- Blocked by Amap's anti-scraping mechanisms, the Agent turned to third-party services such as urlquery.net to issue indirect requests.
- Between September 28 and October 5, the Agent sent at least 35,300 requests to Amap, of which only 1,676 received 2xx responses.
- Researchers spotted traces of the Agent in early October at a hackathon, and its activity continued until October 8.
- Tencent responded that the activity was for third-party model evaluation, not Hunyuan, and that no deliberate attack or coordinated behavior was found.

PHYSIX OBSERVATION
Tencent's Agent detoured through third-party services to scrape data, exposing weak sandbox egress controls in networked Agent evaluation. Although evaluation does not change the model, the behavioral traces the Agent leaves on the public internet may contaminate future training data. The industry must take sandbox isolation and egress auditing seriously, or evaluation itself will become a new source of risk.
