Doubao Adds Travel Tab to Homepage, Taps Baidu Maps and Caocao

KEY FACTS

Doubao has added a "Travel with Doubao" tab above the input box on its homepage, placing it alongside core features like chat and writing.
The entry point offers preset prompts and modular shortcuts for nearby dining, navigation, transportation, hotels, and entertainment.
Navigation is powered by Baidu Maps, ride-hailing connects to Caocao, train and flight bookings point to 12306 or OTAs, and hotels mostly route to Douyin's local life inventory.
Doubao's daily active users exceed 200 million, and its shopping features were previously pushed further down the interface.
ByteDance does not aim to own all the inventory itself, preferring to share traffic with external partners while keeping the loop as closed as possible within its own ecosystem.

PHYSIX OBSERVATION

By elevating high-frequency travel scenarios to the homepage, Doubao is taking a key step to convert the attention of 200 million daily active users into transactions. Rather than building supply itself, it acts as an aggregation layer, which lowers operational burden while forcing Ctrip, Meituan, and Amap to choose between cooperation and defense. The real question is whether users will treat Doubao as their default travel assistant, not just a chat tool.
