PHYSIX OBSERVATION
Amazon is betting every dollar saved from layoffs on AI compute, and the signal is clear: the organization is shifting from feeding headcount to feeding compute. Mid-level management roles are hit first because coordination and approvals are exactly what AI can replace most easily. For workers, the safe zone is contracting toward both ends - deep technical core and frontline business - and the middle layer is the most dangerous place to be.
