Meta launches real-time voice and avatar features for Muse

KEY FACTS

  • Meta's personal AI assistant Muse has added real-time voice conversation and avatar features.
  • The features are rolling out first to US users, across mobile, web, and the Mac app.
  • Users can interrupt Muse's answers at any time and switch between voice, sidebar avatar, or full-screen face-to-face mode.
  • The system is powered by two models: Muse Realtime Voice and Muse Realtime Avatar.
  • The default avatar is a cartoon character named Jolly, and the voice offers hundreds of styles to choose from.

KEY DATA

448×768Video resolution
25 fpsVideo frame rate
about 870 msFirst response latency

PHYSIX OBSERVATION

Voice plus avatar moves AI from the text box to face-to-face, and 870 ms latency is already close to the rhythm of natural conversation. By opening avatar and voice to user customization, Meta is in effect seizing the emotional entry point of the personal agent; but the launch is US-only, and scaling the multimodal experience remains the next threshold.
