Nvidia Vera CPU benchmark: 1.6x more agents per watt than x86

KEY FACTS

  • Nvidia on November 5 published measured data for its Vera CPU on agentic workloads.
  • In a 100-megawatt data center scenario, Vera supports 1.6 times as many agents per watt as the fastest x86 CPU.
  • Against the most energy-efficient x86 CPU, Vera delivers 2x the agent throughput while staying ahead on efficiency.
  • Perplexity says Vera runs coding tasks 1.5 times faster than traditional CPUs and plans to put it into production.
  • Daytona used Vera to launch 1,000 agent sandboxes in 10.8 seconds; the x86 platform needed 88.4 seconds.

PHYSIX OBSERVATION

Agents shift the bottleneck from GPU compute to CPU scheduling and energy efficiency, and Nvidia is using Vera to carry the fight into x86's home turf. That is good for users: the same power budget runs more tasks. But ecosystem migration and software adaptation remain barriers, and the x86 camp will not cede ground easily.
