PHYSIX OBSERVATION
This is the first time Baidu's autonomous driving has opened to the public at scale in Hong Kong, and the Tung Chung test rides look more like a stress test in real-world conditions. Hong Kong's roads are narrow with mixed pedestrian and vehicle traffic; if feedback is positive, it will accelerate integration into local public transport. But the fact that a safety operator is on board for the entire ride also shows that driverless operations still have some way to go in Hong Kong.
