Apple Intelligence Approved for China Beta, Siri AI Absent

KEY FACTS

Cook confirmed in Shanghai on October 15 that Apple Intelligence has been approved.
Apple Intelligence will release a beta version to Chinese users in late October.
The first batch of features includes live translation, writing tools, and a photo cleanup tool.
Siri AI is not included in this beta release.
The approved models include Alibaba's Tongyi Qianwen and Tongyi Wanxiang.

PHYSIX OBSERVATION

Apple Intelligence's entry into China has finally landed, but the first batch of features avoids Siri, the most core AI entry point, making it look more like a cautious trial. Choosing Alibaba's models rather than in-house ones shows that compliance and localization take priority over technological autonomy. For users, the usable features are limited, and what is truly worth anticipating is whether the official version at year-end can fill Siri's shortcomings.
