Doubao opens screen automation access; Alibaba, Tencent apps refuse
KEY FACTS
- Doubao Phone Assistant announced the end of the 30-day public comment period for the SAEP protocol.
- Doubao will gradually open screen automation operation permissions for third-party apps.
- Developers can declare refusal at any time, and Doubao will promptly shut down the related operations.
- For apps that have declared refusal, the agent will not perform operations on them.
- Apps including those under Alibaba and Tencent have explicitly refused this operation permission.
PHYSIX OBSERVATION
Screen automation is a key step for agents to take over phones, but the collective refusal by leading apps shows that the battle over traffic gateways has spread from the feature layer to the system permission layer. Doubao wants to be the orchestrator, while Alibaba and Tencent are unwilling to be reduced to pipelines that get called. In the short term, users will find it hard to enjoy cross-app automated operations, and the industry must first resolve authorization and profit distribution.
