Google Gemini Free Users Limited to Flash-Lite from Oct 9

By dropping the free tier from full Flash to Flash-Lite, Google is effectively using model tiers as a paywall and locking Pro capabilities entirely behind higher subscriptions. For ordinary users, everyday Q&A experience may degrade; for the industry, it sends a signal: the free lunch of large models is narrowing, compute costs are being shifted onto users, and subscription stratification will only get more granular.
