Apple Unveils 7-Inch HomeView Smart Home Display, No Mainland China at Launch

KEY FACTS

Apple last night unveiled HomeView, a 7-inch smart home display with a speaker base.
HomeView has no App Store and cannot freely install third-party apps.
It supports facial recognition for up to six family members and automatically switches to each person's interface.
HomeView's initial launch excludes mainland China, Japan, Hong Kong, and major European markets.
In the demo, Siri AI could check flights and set up an automated task for a coffee machine.

PHYSIX OBSERVATION

Apple treats HomeView as the vehicle for Siri AI to enter the home scenario, intending to use ecosystem synergy to widen its lead over competitors. But the lack of an App Store limits expandability, and the absence from initial markets also shows that service deployment is harder than hardware. For users, the shift of smart homes from rule-based automation to AI task execution is worth anticipating, but domestic users can only watch from the sidelines in the short term.
