By bringing bot replies into billing, Meta has effectively imposed a per-volume tax on every customer-service automation solution. For high-frequency conversation businesses, the platform fee may far exceed model costs, and the money saved by choosing a cheaper model will be eaten by the channel fee. This will force teams to recalculate: which conversations are worth using AI for, and which should go to fixed workflows or humans.
