GPT-Live voice agent found dropping cancel requests
KEY FACTS
- A developer tested GPT-Live and found that 14 of 75 cancellation requests were not handed off to the backend within 6 seconds.
- Of those, 5 requests were never handed off to the backend for execution at all.
- GPT-Live uses a lightweight voice model to decide when to invoke the backend reasoning model.
- That front-end model cannot be fine-tuned on its own the way open-source models can.
- The article recommends replacing the TTFA metric with time-to-first-substantive-information and task-completion verification.

PHYSIX OBSERVATION
Voice AI hands execution authority to a probabilistic model, and fluent conversation masks missed execution of business actions. Enterprises choosing a platform should not look only at first-token latency; they should measure task closed-loop rate. At the same time, a closed front end that cannot be fine-tuned means there is no remedy when things go wrong, and that is a more alarming signal than latency.
