PHYSIX OBSERVATION

With the peak season failing and price bands lost, the old playbook of trading price cuts for volume no longer works for most automakers. The real dividing line is overseas: Chery's exports account for nearly 70% of its sales, BYD earns more than half its revenue abroad, and defending domestic scale while protecting overseas margins has become the consensus. But export tax rebates are set to be scaled back soon, so the window will not stay open long.
