Zhijie seeks vehicle production license as Chery cancels same-site address

KEY FACTS

  • On October 16, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published a notice listing Anhui Zhijie among the proposed new vehicle manufacturers to be granted market access.
  • Anhui Zhijie's production address is No. 8 Wanjiang Avenue, Wuhu, with a note identifying it as a member enterprise of the Chery Group.
  • In the same batch of notices, Chery Automobile applied to cancel that production address, completing a switch of the production entity at the same site.
  • Anhui Zhijie was established in January 2025 with registered capital of 1 billion yuan, wholly owned by Chery Automobile.
  • After an equity change in June 2026, Chery's stake fell to 85%, with two executive shareholding platforms each holding 7.5%.

KEY DATA

PHYSIX OBSERVATION

Zhijie putting its production license into its own company makes it the first case among the five HIMA brands where a brand-specific company directly holds the certificate. The signal is clear: Chery steps back to the equity layer, Huawei continues to lead operations, and manufacturing responsibility belongs to Anhui Zhijie. But a license is not sales. Cumulative sales in the first nine months fell 24.5% year on year. An independent company ultimately has to prove itself through operating numbers, not an access permit.
