On the evening of October 28, Li Auto unveiled the 2026 i6, with the standard version priced at 249,800 yuan. At the launch event, the company shared a figure: in its first year on the market, the i6 has sold nearly 190,000 units cumulatively.

Li Auto initially broke into the market with extended-range vehicles, and battery-electric models came later as a complement. Now BEVs already account for half of Li Auto's sales: Li Xiang said at the Q2 earnings call that in the first half of 2026, BEV models made up roughly half of Li Auto's total sales, and he expects the BEV share to rise further.

The five-seat i6 Has Broken into the Family Market

In September 2025, the i6 launched as a five-seat battery-electric SUV priced at 249,800 yuan. The battery-electric SUV segment around 250,000 yuan is one of the most crowded price brackets in the country—Tesla's Model Y is here, and so are a large batch of new models from EV startups and traditional automakers.

Li Auto packed five-seat space and comfort features into this price point, targeting families who travel with children and elderly parents. This is also the user group that Li Auto's L series has always served, and the i6 continues Li Auto's consistent emphasis on interior space and ride comfort.

Results came quickly. According to retail data from the China Passenger Car Association compiled by Yiche and cited by Yicai, from January to September 2026, the i6 sold 160,221 units among battery-electric SUVs priced above 200,000 yuan, ranking second. Ranking second in such a crowded price bracket means the i6 has already achieved scale. The company also disclosed that the i6's net promoter score is 80.2. This metric tops out at 100, and the higher the score, the more owners are willing to recommend the car to family and friends.

The Supercharging Network Has Paved the Way for BEV Owners

For families who take long trips, buying a battery-electric car always comes with one nagging concern: when going back to their hometown for Chinese New Year or on a National Day road trip, will charging along the way be convenient?

Li Auto has worked on both the vehicle and the infrastructure sides. On the vehicle side, the i6 has used 5C ultra-fast charging batteries since its first version, supporting high-power fast charging. 5C and 4C refer to charging rates—the higher the number, the faster the charge. On the infrastructure side, Li Auto builds its own supercharging stations.

As of the end of September 2026, Li Auto has put 4,188 supercharging stations and 23,077 charging piles into operation. At the end of 2025, that figure was 3,907 stations, meaning more than 280 were added in nine months.

Li Auto is also deploying supercharging stations along highways. As of the end of June 2026, Li Auto had more than 1,400 highway supercharging stations, with 4C and 5C high-power piles accounting for 70%. At the earnings call, the company said that as of the end of July 2026, this network had covered 18 national-level highways and more than 300 cities.

For i6 owners, the supercharging stations Li Auto has deployed along highways provide more charging options for long-distance travel.

This network isn't built only for the i6. Li Auto's subsequent battery-electric models will also be supported by this charging network.

A New Model Takes Over as BEVs Move Upmarket

The 2026 i6's price is unchanged—the standard version is still 249,800 yuan, or 239,800 yuan during the initial sales period—but the battery has been switched to Li Auto's self-developed Lianshan 5C battery with 96 kWh. Under China's standard CLTC test cycle, the rear-wheel-drive version has a range of 780 km, 60 km more than the previous rear-wheel-drive version's 720 km.

Further upmarket, Li Auto's BEV lineup is now complete. On September 2, the new-generation MEGA Home launched, a battery-electric MPV priced at 509,800 yuan; on September 16, the six-seat battery-electric flagship SUV i9 Home launched, priced at 369,800 yuan. Li Auto's BEV lineup now covers five-seat SUVs, six-seat SUVs, and MPVs.
