On October 23, Lei Jun reposted a Weibo post by Hu Zhengnan, Vice President of Xiaomi Group and CTO of its Automotive Division, announcing that the Xiaomi Nürburgring Workshop is now open. Xiaomi's working site beside the Nürburgring track has undergone an expansion and upgrade.

A workshop can be understood as a facility serving vehicle testing, preparation, and tuning. According to Hu Zhengnan's introduction, the new site is right beside the GT track and is much larger than the nearby workshop previously rented, with noticeably improved office conditions for staff as well.

The supporting facilities are quite complete, including a dedicated parking lot, a fast-charging station, a dedicated entrance onto the track, and showers for drivers. What even surprised Hu Zhengnan was that it also has an exclusive VIP viewing lounge.

This opening had already been foreshadowed in an earlier official Nürburgring announcement.

On September 15, the track operator announced that Xiaomi had become the first automotive industry company to move into the ring°werk renovation project. The building is adjacent to the Grand Prix track's start-finish straight; after renovation it will house automotive companies' R&D, workshop, and office spaces, and a direct passage to the Grand Prix track has already been built. This opening gives the previously announced move-in arrangement tangible progress.

In my view, the most practical value of this workshop is that it makes it easier for Xiaomi's engineering team to keep working continuously beside the track. Parking, charging, staff offices, and track access are all concentrated together, and preparations before and after vehicle testing now have more complete support.

Beyond R&D, Xiaomi also treats this place as a window to showcase its cars in Europe. The head of Xiaomi's European R&D and Design Center previously made clear in the official Nürburgring announcement that this site combines R&D, technology, and brand presentation. Now that both the workshop and the viewing space have appeared in Hu Zhengnan's on-site introduction, Xiaomi's foothold beside this famous track is becoming more and more concrete.
